What is a sitter/companion service?

How do CPC's services work?

A sitter/companion service is designed to be an extension of the family unit. Certified Personal Care provides caregivers to enable individuals the care and companionship they need to maintain as much of an independent lifestyle as possible. Caregivers can assume tasks, provide transportation and provide overall fill-in when family members are unable to provide day to day support due to previous obligations or out-of-area commitments.

How do Certified Personal Care services work?

Initially, an appointment for an assessment meeting is scheduled to identify the needs for the particular individual. During this meeting, there is an in-depth discussion of the services to be provided, paperwork is completed, and particular case questions can be answered. After this meeting, a caregiver with qualifications, skills, and availability to fill those needs is assigned to the case.

How do I pay the caregiver?

Certified Personal Care is responsible for paying the caregiver assigned to you. The caregiver is paid based on the time sheet that they turn in weekly. This time sheet must be signed by you. You are invoiced weekly for the caregiver's time from these time sheets.

Are the caregivers bonded?

All Certified Personal Care personnel are bonded. Payment to the caregiver, payment of social security taxes, and payment of federal and state unemployment taxes is the responsibility of Certified Personal Care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm dissatisfied with the caregiver?

It is the goal of Certifed Personal Care to match clients to caregivers for compatibility and necessary skills; however, there is the occasional case, where the client is not satisfied. Upon the client's request, the caregiver will be replaced immediately.

How do I pay for the services?

The Certified Personal Care office will invoice you on a weekly basis for the hours that you approved on the caregiver's timesheet. Your payment can be made by cash, check, or money order. We also accept most major credit cards.

Will Certified Personal Care accept insurance or Medicare?

We accept Long Term Care Insurance for covered services.  We will verify what services are covered under your policy and file the required claim documents for your LTC insurance.  Medicare does not cover Personal Assistance Services, and we not currently provide any medical services that are covered under Medicare.  Medicaid may provide some services for those with very limited assets; however, we do not currently provide any services through Medicaid.  We also accept Worker's Comp cases requiring personal care services and file the required claim forms.

What do your services cost?

Our rates are based on the requirements of the client, number of hours needed, location, skills and experience of caregiver. Our rates include payment of the caregivers wage, all required payroll taxes, and bonding. Our rates also include supervisory visits of the caregiver assigned to assist you.

Do you have caregivers available who can be interviewed before a caregiver is selected for a case?

Yes! Participation of the client is encouraged. The Certified Personal Care office has an excellent hiring process. We require strict employee history verification, as well as, a criminal history check.

We make every effort to cover your service requirements in a timely manner,  and pride ourselves in being able to react quickly to your requests. Occasionally, to meet a time-critical need, the caregiver available to be sent at that time may not be the caregiver assigned for ongoing service.
