Live-in care
This is our most economical option of 24 hour care. With this option, we provide a caregiver who is in the house or other care facility around the clock. The caregiver needs to be able to get a reasonable night’s sleep, but is available to get up at night to provide assistance if it is needed. Choose this option if the person needing care sleeps most of the night and does not require that his/her caregiver always be awake.
Billing for live-in care
Live-in care 4 or more consecutive days per week is billed at a day rate. While most live-in care is 7 days a week, we do have a 4 day minimum for live-in care. Less than 4 days will be billed hourly. Exceptions to this minimum will be considered if we are doing hourly care on other days of the week.
Requirements for live-in care
- Caregiver must be able to get a reasonable night’s sleep
- Caregiver meals provided by client. (Normally, our caregiver will prepare enough extra food for herself as client’s meal is prepared).
- Caregiver is provided with a place to sleep that is close enough to client so that if client requires assistance, the caregiver can be awakened. As an alternative to this, a simple infant alarm system can be used if caregiver’s sleeping area is further away
Hourly Shift care
With this option, we provide multiple caregivers to work in shifts (usually 8 hours or 12 hours) around the clock. Choose this option when you want someone to be awake and on duty around the clock. An example of this requirement would be if the client is awakening many times during the night needing assistance.
Billing for hourly shift care
Hourly shift care is billed at our lowest hourly rate. Please see our
service rate page for this rate.
Where live-in and hourly shift care can be provided
The most common location for this care is in the client’s home. However, we routinely provide either live-in or hourly shift care in other care facilities such as assisted living or senior living centers. We can also provide both types of care in a hospital room, if additional non-medical care beyond what the hospital can provide is needed.
